Tour de Bourgogne à Vélo, northern version
Day 1: Dijon
Free visit of Dijon, capital of the great Dukes of Burgundy. Along the route of the Owl, you will discover the charms of its jewel, the old town: the Dukes' Palace, Saint Bénigne Cathedral and Notre Dame Church, a Gothic masterpiece that makes Dijon "the city of a hundred steeples".
Day 2: Dijon - Pouilly-en-Auxois 60 km approx
This route will take you along Lake Kir, the legacy of a famous canon, before winding your way through a wooded gorge. History is on the agenda at La Bussière and its Cistercian abbey or at the château de Barbirey. Then you will be in an intimate universe bathed by the Vandenesse river before arriving in Pouilly-en-Auxois, at the highest level of the Burgundy canal, at 378 m altitude.
Day 3: Pouilly-en-Auxois - Buffon 51 km approx.
Pleasant day crossing the valley of the locks. You will pass by the foot of Mont Auxois, where the statue of Vercingetorix, defeated by Julius Caesar in 52 BC, stands, and enjoy the landscape of the eroded plateaus as far as Montbard.
Day 4: Buffon - Tonnerre 54 km approx
A nice walk during which you can admire the architecture of the villages, the two superb renaissance castles of Ancy-le-Franc and Tanlay. You will cross the Tonnerre vineyards until you reach Tonnerre, a town with a remarkable architectural heritage.
Day 5: Tonnerre - Auxerre 60 km approx.
Escapade in the middle of the vineyards from Tonnerre to Auxerre via Chablis, a small Burgundy town par excellence with its picturesque streets and 15th and 16th century houses.
Day 6: Auxerre - Clamecy 50 km approx
You will ride along the Yonne river punctuated by a succession of limestone rocks to Clamecy, a medieval city.
Day 7 : Clamecy
End of our services after breakfast
The Burgundy Canal offers a wide variety of landscapes, from the hills to the eroded plateaus from Dijon to Clamecy.
You will enjoy the tourist sites and the towns and villages of character: La Bussière, Châteauneuf-en-Auxois, the Pouilly arch, Alesia, Montbard, Tanlay and Tonnerre.
On leaving the Burgundy canal, you can walk through the vineyards between Tonnerre and Auxerre
