Day 1 Arrival
Arrival at your hotel in La Charité-sur-Loire, located in the heart of the city. Take time to stroll through the city centre.
Day 2 La Charité-sur-Loire - Sancerre - Saint-Satur 31 km
You leave La Charité-sur-Loire and ride along the Loire on a pleasant cycle path. You then enter the Sancerre wine region, which is one of the most beautiful wine-growing areas in the world. When you arrive in Sancerre, be sure to visit the Maison des Sancerre and taste a glass of this precious beverage with a Crottin de Chavignol!
Day 3 Saint-Satur - Batilly-en-Puisaye 41 km
You go up the lateral canal of the Loire. On your way, before entering Puisaye, why not take a break in Cosne sur Loire and visit the Loire Museum, located in a former Augustinian convent? Your day ends in an Ecolodge in the heart of the Puisaye countryside.
Day 4 Batilly - Lainsecq 50 km
Via small country roads you will reach the castle of Guédelon, a unique castle built according to the methods of the Middle Ages. During your visit, be sure to participate in the fun workshops that are offered! You leave Guédelon and drive through the forest to Lainsecq.
Day 5 Lainsecq - Vézelay 46 km
A beautiful day awaits you! Passing through small villages and back roads, you reach the destination of the day, Vézelay. One of the most beautiful views in Burgundy awaits you here, near the Basilica of Saint Madeleine, a masterpiece of Romanesque art, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. In the Middle Ages, Vézelay was
a major place of pilgrimage and a major stop on the Pilgrim's Way to Santiago de Compostela.
Day 6 Vézelay - Vermenton 48 km
After a beautiful climb through the heart of the Madeleine woods, you reach the Yonne valley. You ride along the Yonne all day, as well as the Canal du Nivernais. You pass through very picturesque sites such as Châtel-Censoir, the Saussois and its climbing rocks, then Mailly-le-Château to finally arrive in Vermenton.
Day 7 Vermenton - Chablis 35 km
After passing charming villages such as Irancy, famous for its Pinot Noir, you enter the Chablis region and discover the
Chablisien and discover the largest white wine vineyard in France with a single appellation: the famous Chablis.
Day 8 Chablis - Auxerre 37 km
You pass the wine villages of the Auxerrois: Chitry and Saint-Bris-le-Vineux, Bailly. In Bailly you enter the "Centre of the Earth", in a huge cellar where the famous Crémant de Bourgogne is made, which you take the time to taste. Then you reach Auxerre by the towpath.
