Before the French Revolution, this building was the residence of the Marquis de Chevrier d'Igé. It was built in 1716 by the Abbé de Chevrier de Saint-Mauris, treasurer of the collegiate church of Saint-Pierre, on land encumbered by the ruins of the former Jacobin convent (destroyed in 1567 by Protestants) and the church that Louis IX had built for them in 1255.
