During the European Heritage Days, visit the courtyard of the Château des Moines de Berzé-la-Ville, famous for its chapel containing splendid 12th-century wall paintings.
A former deanery, mentioned as early as the 11th century. A centre for the exploitation of land, it was part of the network of countryside woven by the Abbey of Cluny to provide income and sustenance. It was home to a number of monks responsible for administering the monastery's landholdings.
The current buildings, apart from the chapel, appear to date back to the 18th century, including a tinailler and a remarkable "grand point" wine press.
