Universe of textiles - Claude Cornu exhibition
Claude Cornu's work revolves around presence. The presence of those absent women who haunt our imagination and our past...
Like the women who inhabited Ronsard's poems, a central pillar of this exhibition in which this native of the Loire pays tribute to his roots and celebrates an eternal femininity that is embodied across fashions and centuries.
Claude Cornu, painter and visual artist, a Villeneuve native at heart, used to investing various places in the city, is now filling the Carnot Gallery with silhouettes. His "Textile Universe" is made up of fleeting impressions that shine through in these curved figures simply traced on the fabric, between paintings and hangings.
In these red veils hanging in the window, in these dresses suspended in space and time, or in these piles of clothing so similar to the trail a woman might leave between her boudoir and her bedroom, we catch a glimpse of the richness of her world and the plurality of femininity.
