Puppet show - Young audience.
An 8-year-old boy is fascinated by witches, those who ride broomsticks, use magic, potions, evil spells and abracadabras.
Through her reading, she gradually develops the idea that her mother, a passionate herbalist who distils essential oils and macerates, might well have some unmentionable powers...
Her mother, who is questioned by her son, approaches the subject with ambiguity and humour, encouraging him to investigate and form his own opinion.
The young boy, perfectly aware of his puppet status, bribes his puppeteer who, through the "magic of theatre", transforms him and takes him on a journey back to the 16th century.
By plunging into history, he discovers the true condition of a woman, a herbalist and healer, accused of witchcraft. He witnesses a situation that degenerates into her being denounced as a witch...
He returns from this journey a grown-up, with new ideas about witches, women and what is commonly known as "magic".
