Jazz Festival/ 20th anniversary. Le Temps Virtuose, nominated in the concert category at the 2024 Victoires du jazz! Time shapes, transforms and reveals the artist to himself, and is an essential element in the artistic process. In this new opus, with its title akin to an oxymoron, Sophie Alour continues her quest for herself, far removed from the codes of the genre and freed from any idea of performance. Diluting the perception of time, moving from reverie to hypnotic rhythms, she mixes like an alchemist all the sources of her inspiration, from jazz and rock to classical and Malian music. Between Pierre Perchaud's acoustic guitar, Guillaume Latil's cello sound, which offers the possibility of two voices singing with the tenor saxophone whose tessitura he shares, and Anne Paceo's minimalist drums, Sophie Alour plays with the constraints imposed by this formation and turns it into the tool of a refined and expressionist writing. Le Temps virtuose is Sophie Alour's ninth solo project. In 2022, she was awarded the Victoire in the "Artist of the Year" category. In 2021, she was awarded the prestigious "Django Reinhardt" prize for her entire career, as well as the Chevaliers des Arts et des Lettres medal. Her career, her recent awards and this album, with its title in the shape of a self-fulfilling prophecy, bear witness to a musician at the height of her maturity, at a key moment in her artistic life.
