Documentary evening - Let's try it out

As part of the Festival Diversité, Cinémavia, in partnership with CIBFC, welcomes director Laure Saint-Hillier for the presentation of the documentary "Essaimons-nous".
This film follows the evolution of a collective adventure led by organic market gardeners in the region. In search of greater coherence in their way of working, these professionals joined together in an informal seed exchange group. Their objectives: to select seeds adapted to their terroir and to be autonomous. In this way, they escape the stranglehold of the large groups that patent living organisms and modify them so that only hybrid and non-reproducible seeds are put on the market. Buoyed by the momentum of these militant practices, a small group decided to go further and embarked on a project to sell seeds to individuals. Thus was born the Semencerie. But this change of scale and the pace of production it imposes are not without their problems.
The film therefore follows these two human adventures which develop and feed each other. Although anchored in a particular territory, they reveal major societal issues that are found everywhere: respect for biodiversity, nutritional quality, short circuits and self-management. Through a sensitive and plastic approach, the film tackles these subjects by gracefully mixing direct cinema and poetry.
