One exhibition, one day each month, thirty minutes, one story!
Every month this year, the Musée de la Loire will be offering a new activity, which will invariably begin like a fairytale with "Once upon a time...".
This month, it's "Once upon a time... Tobias" in front of this 17th-century high-fired earthenware stoup depicting : Tobias and the Archangel Raphael.
As we all know, Nevers earthenware is a world-renowned Nivernais craft that owes its origins to the marriage of the Countess of Nevers to an Italian duke. What is less well known, however, is that this ceramics centre spread out around it, to Moulins for example, but also to Cosne, where this enameled plaque undoubtedly originated. The story, taken from the Old Testament and the Book of Tobit, recounts the meeting between a young Israelite from the tribe of Naphtali and the Archangel Raphael. This meeting and the catching of a fish with miraculous properties is the starting point for a series of healings... Doubtful? Come and see for yourself!
The Musée de la Loire invites you to take a little cultural and historical lunchtime break, before or after your sandwich or lunch, come and enjoy a little art to digest or whet your appetite!
