One exhibition, one day each month, thirty minutes, one story!
Every month this year, the Musée de la Loire will be offering a new event, which will invariably begin like a fairytale with "Once upon a time...".
This month, "Once upon a time... Tara" in front of this mysterious bronze statuette of uncertain origin: the seated goddess Tara.
Who in Cosne would have imagined, when pushing open the doors of the Musée de la Loire, discovering Far Eastern collections? And yet, here you can cross a sort of space-time divide that leads straight to Japan, China, India or Nepal! We owe this wonderful opportunity to one of the museum's most generous donors, Emile Loiseau, in 1970. A plethora of objects of all kinds - statuettes, okimonos, netsukes - plunge us into a world of antipodes. A case in point is this representation of the goddess Tara, whose name means Liberator in Sanskrit, making her very popular in Hinduism and Buddhism. These Eastern cultures are so foreign to us that it's hard to grasp them. Identifying these gods is complicated by the fact that they take so many different forms as they are reincarnated. This bewilders the most eminent specialists and even the believers themselves... Would you like to help us lift the veil?
The Musée de la Loire invites you to take a little cultural and historical lunchtime break, before or after your sandwich, your lunch bowl, come and pick a little art to digest or whet your appetite!
