Classified as a Historic Monument and awarded the "Maison des Illustres" label, the museum takes visitors on a journey through the history of science, from curiosity cabinets to the first museums, focusing on two personalities born in Montbard: George-Louis Leclerc, Count de Buffon (1707-1788) and Louis Jean-Marie Daubenton (1716-1800). Every year, a temporary exhibition is added to the collections in the museum's various rooms, offering an insight into the artistic and scientific heritage of these two famous naturalists.
