MARCELA [Gypsy music]
She's gypsy, they're gadje. "They" are Loran Bozic, violinist, Charles Lamouroux and Benoît Vincent, guitarists and Yoann Godefroy, double bassist. With this new family, Marcela sings of exile, recounts her uprooting, and makes the misfortunes of her powerful voice dance with the sweetness of Slavic melancholy. Together, they offer a powerful reflection on cultural diversity and the need to live united, despite our differences.
FORRÓ DE BALKÃO [world music]
The Brazilian Nordeste has never been so close to Eastern Europe! On the one hand, there's the fire, with a territory steeped in a jubilant, crossbred popular culture; on the other, there's the gunpowder, with a music marked by an unprecedented festive spirit. At Forró de Balkão, Slavic passion and tropical frenzy are intimately intertwined. After salsa and cumbia, forró is fast becoming the new wave in Latin music. Mixed with the brassy accents of Balkan brass bands, it explodes into a musical firework display that brilliantly demonstrates that popular cultures drink from the same source. The tradition of Brazilian Nordeste balls, with a touch of Balkan madness!
