Temporary exhibitions:
A historical discovery at the Cluny Museum of Art and Archaeology
"Cluny, les abbés du roi - les abbés commendataires de l'abbaye de Cluny (1456-1790)".
The exhibition brings together a selection of works, many of them previously unseen, representing the work of these great abbots: painted and engraved portraits, furniture, books, seals, architectural elements, etc. from public and private Cluny collections, as well as from major institutions (museums in Le Puy-en-Velay, Château d'Aulteribe, Bibliothèque nationale de France, Musée national du Moyen Âge, Lyon Cathedral, etc.).

To coincide with the application of "Cluny and the Cluniac sites" for UNESCO World Heritage status, this exhibition of panels gives you the keys to understanding how the Cluniac network has functioned since its origins.
Archaeological excavations :
Excavations by the CNRS and Lyon 2 University are continuing into their final year, exploring the abbey's large cloister in search of the foundations of Cluny's second abbey church. Take advantage of these open days to meet the archaeologists working on the site.

Introductory archaeological dig workshops for children
Take part in an introduction to archaeology through the reconstruction of an excavation site. Learn how to use the archaeologist's tools and techniques, and interpret the remains unearthed. Discover authentic objects and facsimiles!
In the cloister of the abbey / at 2pm and 4pm / for children aged 8 and over / free admission, no booking required / please arrive at the stand no later than 10 minutes before the start of the workshop / 12 places available per session / by Collectif Specimen(s).
