The endive paradox

"For months I'd been living in the shambles of my bedroom, which has been declared a Seveso zone; I'd become a beautiful endive measuring 1.80 metres. Are your teenagers stagnating? Parents, stop worrying. Alexis Louis-Lucas was one of them and he came back with a story - his own - and some good news: it's only a short hop from endive to envy. And that's perhaps the least of the paradoxes in this one-man show, which is as theatrical as it is musical, as funny as it is melancholy, as trivial as it is poetic, and which bears witness to the difficult transition from teenager to adult. At the centre of the stage sits a stern piano, a projection of his parents' desires and a playground for the young boy - nicknamed Rantanplan - who dreams of being a drummer. The beast is heckled with rolls of drumsticks, becomes a refuge, an imaginary space, dislocates to make way for a new landscape...
