In 2006, a group of students from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Métiers in Cluny came up with the idea of organising a reggae/dub music festival in support of the local community. The festival takes place at the start of the tourist season in southern Burgundy.
The initiative stems from the desire to relaunch the activities of the GaSole association (Gadz'Arts Solidaires), and in particular its voluntary work in the most disadvantaged regions of the world.
Since the 8th edition in June 2014, and after a one-year hiatus, the festival has grown once again, and now offers performances over 2 days. Once again this year, we'll be keeping this festival format, much to the delight of festival-goers, who have appreciated this novelty.
In figures, the Grand Bastringue and its 'little brother' the Petit Bastringue represent more than 8,000 festival-goers who will gather on 10 and 11 May to listen to artists from all over France in an exceptional setting: Cluny Abbey, a thousand-year-old site listed as a historic monument.
