This talk will evoke a period when circuses attracted thousands of spectators to their shows and travelling zoos in every town. It was with a menagerie that the Amar brothers began their career before deciding, in 1924, to set up their own circus. Their establishments visited the major towns around the world. The Amar brothers ceased their activity in 1968, but the circus is still in operation.
The memory of the Cirque Amar has its place at the heart of a nostalgia teeming with the colourful scenes created by the most talented poster artists of the era.
As part of the biennial Cirque en fête.
Discover the Cent ans du Cirque Amar exhibition in the Salle François-Martin from 5 October to 13 October. Opening on Tuesday 8 October at 6pm.
