When philosophy becomes joyful, it sounds better!
A delightful duel, magnificently performed by Grégori Baquet and Franck Mercadal.
Jean-Jacques Rousseau has just finished the book of his life: Confessions. The first autobiography ever written. It is a book in which he settles accounts with his friend of twenty years, Denis Diderot. He came to Paris to give public readings. The religious authorities were pleased, because they were once again going to incite the king to imprison Diderot and ban his work: The Encyclopédie. It was an impious book for the Church, since God was no longer at the centre of creation. One evening, Diderot came to see Rousseau to ask him to stop criticising him, but Rousseau refused because, in his opinion, sincerity was priceless. Diderot then suggested challenging him to a game of chess. The winner would decide the fate of the other. A crazy game begins, in which anything goes to destabilise the opponent. "La raison du plus fou" is the story of a disappointed friendship. It's also about taking the audience as witnesses and shedding light on the thoughts of these two philosophers in a humorous way.
And you'll discover that they're still very much relevant today.
