Kaïmos are four musicians with a passion for rebéitiko, the popular Greek songs that evoke the nostalgia of exile and the comfort of taverns. They perform the repertoire from the early 20th century accompanied by traditional instruments: bouzouki, baglamadaki, tzouras, violin and percussion.
"For me, rebetiko is first and foremost an atmosphere as much as a song, silent and marked faces as much as dances or cries, the mingled smells of resinated wine, ouzo, fresh sawdust under the tables and cooled cigarette butts" - L'Éte grec (1976), Jacques Lacarrière.
