Heritage Days guided tour of the Hôtel de Conflans

This private mansion is typical of the wealthy residences in Grayling in the 16th century: a street-facing dwelling served by a courtyard-side staircase, a carriage entrance in this case, and a large plot of land to the rear comprising outbuildings, garden and orchard. The stairway tower, or viorbe, is particularly remarkable for its size and ashlar bonding.
For the record, Louis XIV banished the Marquis de Conflans to Holland.
