Exposition : Spectral Summer
New exhibition "Spectral Summer" by Bettina Samson at the Archives Départementales in partnership with the Parc Saint Léger to be discovered from 7 June to 18 September!
Curator: Leïla Couradin.
Invited to exhibit in the Nièvre Departmental Archives building, the artist Bettina Samson was happy to immerse herself in its glass architecture and in the exploration of its archives. This is how the notions of transparency and light but also, between hybrid creatures and parallel realities, those of aberration and metamorphosis have guided her new creations. Inspired by the collection of Jean Carriès, a famous ceramist (1855-94) living in Saint-Amand en Puisaye, the artist has developed her imagination from the syrupy, grotesque and even monstrous glazes of the ceramist influenced by Japanese and medieval traditions.
Bettina Samson (1978) is a graduate of the ENSBA in Lyon (2003) and of the University of Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne (DEA in Plastic Arts, 2001). For the past twenty years, she has been developing a protean plastic practice mixing sculptures, installations and large format images.
Her work is regularly presented in solo and group exhibitions. She is represented by the Sultana Gallery, Paris.
