Exhibition GOLD AND BEFORE

From 3 June to 3 September 2023, the Château de Bussy-Rabutin and the Musée de Semur-en-Auxois will host the exhibition D'OR ET D'AVANT, curated by Rémi Tamain.
This multi-faceted exhibition will have temporality as its common thread; the desire of its artistic director as well as that of the artists participating in this project being to create a dialogue between their creations and the collections present in the two sites.
Thus, contemporary works of art will rub shoulders with historical objects, for this is the whole point of its theme, which is based on this simple play on words: "golden and before = henceforth". Past and present are linked to offer visitors a multiple journey with a wide reading field.
The other common element in this multi-site exhibition is gold. This metal is so symbolic that it expresses beauty, joy, artisanal and artistic prowess, the marvellous, the divine... as well as perfidy, jealousy, madness, avarice and covetousness...
This gold can be found both in the famous Golden Tower of the Château de Bussy-Rabutin and in the portrait frames in the Fine Arts Room of the Semur-en-Auxois Museum.
The leitmotiv is to show the richness of each place through the prism of this exhibition and especially the works of the four artists participating in the adventure.
Clara Perreaut, Benjamin Bichard, Roman Graeffly and Rémi Tamain have taken up the challenge with brio and invite you to stroll this summer through these two brilliant installations nestled in the heart of the Auxois-Morvan.
