Exposition de Sylvie Turpin
Sylvie Turpin's experience of technical know-how in the field of mural painting has led her to give an important place to the process in her creation. The process is both the mental procedure used by the artist to arrive at a constructed result and the set of phenomena inherent in the materials interacting with each other. Thus, Sylvie Turpin constructs her work through technique, form and colour, but also takes into account the work's own evolution. She chooses not to master everything.
Sylvie Turpin puts her technique at the service of the form. By means of a layered process, the form leaves its original frame to go in front of the spectator, in real space, but continues to maintain powerful links with its matrix. The canvas hung on the wall becomes a painting-sculpture, an object-work, blurring the boundaries between subject and object. No figurative subject, no psychological questioning or determined representation, only the material, the form and the colour give meaning to Sylvie Turpin's work. The monochromes harmonise with the colour of the reliefs and show the simplicity of aesthetics.
Present in the major contemporary art venues (POCTB in Orleans, Artborétum in Argenton-sur-Creuse, La Vigie in Nîmes...), leading an international career (Belgium, Spain, Korea...), Sylvie Turpin is also an exhibition curator, engraver and ceramist. However, she remains attached to her region, she lives and works in the Loiret, and is honoured to return to our town where she exhibited in 1997. A very beautiful exhibition to be seen at the Musée-Galerie Carnot from 18 June to 4 September.
