Gary Burton discovered Astor Piazzolla during a trip to Buenos Aires in 1965, but it was only twenty years later that their fruitful collaboration took shape.
Piazzolla composed several magnificent pieces for Burton, a leading jazz musician and an extraordinary virtuoso, which testify to his undeniable attraction to the vibraphone.
Gary Burton, for his part, never ceased to pay tribute to Piazzolla by playing and recording many of his works.
By taking up this fascinating repertoire - regularly enriched by new original arrangements - Vincent Maillard, a sensitive interpreter and remarkable improviser, is following in this prestigious and inspiring lineage.
His stimulating creativity opens up new horizons for the group in an astonishing alchemy of sound.
