César FRANCK (1822-1890) - The Seven Last Words of Christ on the Cross

The Seven Last Words of Christ on the Cross are a series of short phrases from the Gospels. They have been set to music by many composers, from Schütz to Murail, via Haydn and of course Franck.

Composed by César FRANCK (1822-1890) in 1859, the work was never performed during the composer's lifetime and was only discovered in 1955, when the University of Liège acquired an autograph score from a private owner.

The JUBILATE choir in Cluny will perform a version for piano and strings without soloists. The solo parts will be performed by the choristers.
