Your cinema is honoured to welcome Antoine Page to talk about his documentary film "Toubib", in which he followed his brother through 12 years of medical school. He will be on hand after the film for a chat with the audience.
With his A-levels in hand, 18-year-old Angel decided to "go into medicine". Antoine, his film-maker brother, decided to follow in his footsteps, and set about making a film that would last twelve years.
Twelve years of apprenticeship, from marathon exams to first consultations, from the adrenalin of hospital internships to the solitary meditations of a young country doctor.
Twelve years of life punctuated by questioning and realisation, leading Angel to commit himself to social medicine.
A singular story set against the backdrop of a pandemic, Toubib is a journey to the heart of our 'state of health': what binds us to life and death.
