Avallon, cité méconnue aux portes du Morvan
A rocky promontory at the foot of which the river Cousin flows in a narrow valley that naturally protects the city to the south. Its slopes have been shaped into gardens, the remains of which can still be appreciated. On the eastern side, the ramparts and defence towers are still visible, and in the heart of the town, the castle walls, the old houses and the role of the Roman road between Autun and Auxerre
Avallon is a stopover for pilgrims on their way to Vézelay. It is a little-known town, but it has everything to surprise you.
