The theme of this year's event, which combines art and nature, is bats!
Not quite diurnal, not quite nocturnal, and the only winged mammal, this discreet chiropteran, very common on every continent, is highly symbolic from every point of view. A diabolical creature par excellence in the West, it is a symbol of prosperity in China. Some species are harmless in our latitudes: pipistrelle, rhinolophe, murin, oreillard, sérotine and other noctule or myotis... live in close contact with humans. Contrary to their gloomy reputation, they are proving to be real allies, particularly when it comes to regulating insects.
During this unique event, the Musée de la Loire will first look at the representation of bats in art, when this enigmatic little mammal comes to life in works or objects linked to the world of entertainment. The Environmental Education Department will then take you on a walk in the footsteps of these nocturnal creatures that inhabit our cities.
