Fairs and Gourmet Days in Burgundy

Exploring authentic flavours…

Throughout the year, Burgundy invites you to (re) discover the delights of the French terroir during the course of a day, a weekend or longer. Wine, cider, cassis, truffles, cheeses…mobilise your taste buds: and the producers and top chefs will do the rest !

During March, a ‘tour de France’ of flavours

Every year, the town of Marsannay-la-Côte welcomes an unmissable event for gastronomy enthusiasts : ‘Journées gourmandes’ [Gourmet Days]. Over a two day period in March, all the French terroirs are represented as part of a huge market. Everyone has the opportunity to sample culinary specialties and wines of their choice, and to eat there or to take away whatever dish they want. An opportunity not to be missed!

In May, sample whatever you want

During the month of May, the ‘Ferme des Brossiers ‘ at Boeurs-en-Othe opens the flavour fair, with the ‘Cidre en Fête’ show. Two days during which local producers invite you to discover their cider and other regional products. As it happens, there’s more than just wine in Burgundy! There’s also fruit cider, tangy cider…and a great friendly atmosphere. A wide range of activities take place on-site: An open-air dance and an impersonator performance on the Sunday.

During Ascension Day weekend at the end of Easter, the town of Saulieu then picks up the baton as it welcomes the Grand Morvan and Pays de Burgundy ‘Journées Gourmandes’ [Gourmet Days] at Exhibition Park. Every year, around a hundred craftsmen, producers and wine-growers are waiting to give you a warm welcome and share their passion for gastronomy. The most enthusiastic children and adults can even take part in the cooking contests!

In September, the cassis smells sweet in the region

Cassis enthusiast? During the first weekend of September, spend time on the heights of Nuits-Saint-Georges, in the hamlet of Concœur. Producers, processors and users, the entire industry is here to help you learn more about this fruit by way of tasting sessions and other activities. A great way of prolonging the pleasures of summer as a family!

During November, enjoy truffles

In early November, the major truffle season begins. To kick off proceedings, the medieval town of Noyers-sur-Serein organises a market dedicated to this precious ‘black diamond’ over a three week period. You can purchase mushrooms here, as well as produce to go with them (wine, champagne, fois gras, cheese, gingerbread…), and pick up all kinds of advice on how to prepare them.
