Come and find out about some of our favourite places, all over Burgundy. Choose from Vézelay, the iconic Route des Grands Crus de Bourgogne (Route of the Great Wines of Burgundy) and the surrounding area, or the Loire vineyard in Burgundy, and we'll also share our favourite places to stay with you.
The vineyard in autumn
The Route des Grands Crus (Route of the Great Wines) or the "Champs-Elysées of Burgundy" was created in 1937, which gives you an idea about the quality of the wines produced here along the 60 kilometres of vineyards where 32 of Burgundy's 33 great vintage wines are made. Added to that, the vineyard was also recognised as a World Heritage site by UNESCO in July 2015! In autumn, just after the grape harvest, the vines change from red to magnificent gold shades, which helps us understand the real meaning behind the poetic name of the beautiful 'Côte d'Or' (literally meaning 'golden slope'). You might even be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of Mont Blanc from the vineyard!
How could you possibly choose between a trendy bed & breakfast, a beautiful farmhouse made from Burgundy stone or to wake up overlooking the vines, all of these choices being a mere stone's throw from the famous Hospices de Beaune !
There’s still so much to see in the vineyards
Let’s continue our exploration of the winegrowing villages bearing famous names from the Côte Chalonnaise vineyard.
Over an area 5-km long and 7-km wide, you’ll be exploring some well-known appellations such as Bouzeron and its famous Aligoté, Givry, Mercurey, Montagny and Rully. These winegrowing villages are great places to come and stay for a weekend in autumn.
It’s a real pleasure getting away for a relaxing weekend, and waking up to this perfectly unspoilt countryside. While you’re staying here, make sure you taste the delicious seasonal dishes concocted by our passionate chefs.
Exploring our towns in autumn
Do you know the towns of Auxerre, Cluny, Nevers and Semur-en-Auxois? These are fantastic places to come for a well-deserved break this autumn! They are modestly-sized towns so you’ll instantly feel at ease here.
The Loire Bourguignonne
Do you know the pretty towns of Burgundy’s Val de Loire where you can come and admire the patchwork of colours either on a walk or a trip down the superb river? Go for a leisurely stroll around the narrow streets of La Charité-sur-Loire, Decize, Clamecy and Nevers. We recommend stopping for a gourmet break in a wine-tasting cellar to sample the famous Pouilly-Fumé.
Your stay here is guaranteed to be a peaceful and relaxing one, between nature and the town, the vineyards and the Loire. This is the perfect place for a relaxing break.
Breathtaking view from Vézelay
Have you heard of Vézelay, the medieval village listed as one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France" and the abbey on the top of the eternal hill, listed as a World Heritage site by UNESCO? From the top of the hill, you'll have an incredible view of the surrounding vineyards and the forests of the Morvan.
Are you more interested in seeing a château, a beautiful manor house or a coaching inn? Whatever your choice, you can expect a great weekend on Vézelay hill!
