Vitraux d'art - Claire Dumoulin

After studying art, I arrived in the Cluny region in 1995 to train in the stained glass profession at Paul Duckert's workshop in Massilly. I participated in many restoration and creation projects in the area, mainly for religious buildings. I was thus initiated to all the stages of the work, from the design of the project to the installation site.
I have been self-employed since 2012 as an auto-entrepreneur, and currently work in duo with my colleague Fabienne Desmet from Tramayes, for the most important projects.

I use traditional leaded stained glass, mainly blown glass from the Verrerie de St. Just, offering a remarkable range of colours.
I also use the so-called "grisaille" paint, which allows me to create fine details that the cut glass does not allow, as well as all the shades and luminous gradations that it is possible to work on the surface. This brown or black paint, which is also worked by scratching to bring out the light, is then fired like an enamel at 650° for a final fixation.
I also master the "Tiffany" technique (stained glass set in copper), which is lighter than lead and, thanks to its more flexible assembly method, allows me to create small objects to be hung, or to work in three dimensions to create lights.

For private clients, I work to order, taking time to discuss the client's wishes and to adapt the palette and luminosity of the glass to the place where it is to be used, taking into account the sunlight and the view.

With a degree in plastic arts, I also run artistic workshops for children, in schools, after-school clubs or associations, using various techniques (including stained glass) such as drawing, painting, mosaics, shadow theatre, ceramics, making musical instruments, papier-mâché etc...
On request, I welcome adult trainees for a "leisure" initiation to stained glass techniques over a week or so (ideally for 2 to 3 people)
