Cet édifice a connu diverses fonctions au fil du temps. Ancienne église paroissiale consacrée en 1535, son architecture s’enrichit d’un clocher massif vers 1549. La tourelle perchée en encorbellement sur le pignon porte le millésime de 1658. Le culte fut supprimé à la Révolution, puisque l’église des moines (actuelle basilique) devint alors l’église paroissiale. Depuis, l’église fut utilisée comme prison, corps de garde ou maison commune. Elle abrite aujourd’hui des expositions.
