The walls of Saint-Germain Abbey have witnessed more than 15 centuries of history and spiritual life …This majestic monastery, which was extremely influential until the end of the Middle Ages, stands on the banks of the Yonne, right in the centre of Auxerre. This masterpiece of Carolingian art boasts some exceptional crypts decorated with frescos and also houses a museum and cultural centre.
