Travel with “everything to hand”

Camper-vans can be driven with a normal driving licence (for cars), enabling simple, practical yet stylish travel with the chance to try something new. Cultural outings, leisure activities, hiking, cycling, hopping from one town to the next ... young families, active retirees, the camper-van is your flexible friend.

Experienced campers have long known and valued the many stop-over/service areas close to Burgundy's major tourist sights. First-time campers are advised to rent their vehicle, as they can choose one to match the number of people in the family/group.

Exploring unspoilt areas

History, good food and wine, the great outdoors ... there are so many good reasons for travelling round Burgundy. Incredibly varied landscapes, castles, châteaux and historic buildings all over the place, proud and prosperous historic towns, traditional villages, gastronomic delights and fine wine on every side ... Is any other region more suitable for camper-van touring than Burgundy?

The Wine routes let you taste delicious wines which can then accompany an on-board meal. Be sure to take a proper break before getting back behind the wheel! Dijon, Gevrey-Chambertin, Beaune and Pommard are all ideal for food/wine related tourism and buying food. Wander round and find a local producer... Between Chablis, Pouilly-sur-Loire, Mercurey and Fuissé there are plenty of places to stop in wine-growing areas...

There are over 70 community stopover/service areas for you to choose from. Some forty campsites also have facilities for your “house on wheels”. Just pick the one best suited for your favourite activities. Nature lovers will enjoy the Saint Point Lamartine campsite with its 3 hectare lake on the edge of a forest. More interested in history? Try Les Platanes campsite, right next door to the Guédelon medieval castle building site.
Get away from it all! The “Bienvenue à la ferme” label applies to parking and other services available on working farms. Pitch sizes are very generous (35 sq. m. minimim) so relax and enjoy a stop-over in a genuine rural setting. If you prefer to focus on Burgundy's wine-growing areas, the France-passion network identifies wine-growers who allow daytime and/or night-time camper-van parking. In both cases you can be sure of a warm welcome!
