Dijon
Capital of the Dukes of Burgundy

Although it's the ideal departure point for the Route des Grands Crus along the Côte de Nuits, it's hard to tear yourself away from the capital of the ancient Duchy of Burgundy. Shops and gardens, terraces, museums, historic buildings... Dijon is first and foremost a “beautiful city”.

No river but a hundred towers

In Roman times Dijon was a crossroads between northern Europe and the Mediterranean.

In the 14th century it was here that the Valois Dukes of Burgundy founded one of the most brilliant courts in Europe. Dijon then became seat of the order of the Golden Fleece.

From the Renaissance, the townhouses of Nobles of the Robe reshaped this “city of a hundred towers”.
