![]() No doubt about it, wine is Burgundy's most famous ambassador. But there is not just one Burgundy wine. Soil and location, altitude and aspect - nature has furnished Burgundian winegrowers with a whole spectrum of possibilities to create from the same grape varieties, an infinite range of harmonious wines. And nothing goes better with such nectar than Burgundian cuisine, rooted in tradition yet full of subtle flavours : trout, carp or pike-perch, Bresse poultry, Charolais beef, Burgundy snails. Add to my road bookA taste of Burgundy![]() This summer Bourgogne Tourisme is launching a "Taste of Burgundy" scheme designed to let you try the region's wines in a number of participating restaurants. We have joined forces with restaurant owners and wine-growers with the sole aim of delighting your taste buds. From mid-July to mid-September 2009, about thirty Burgundy restaurants will give you the chance to try three different wines from the region. In terms of volume and price, these 3 glasses will be the equivalent of two normal glasses so that you can enjoy the wine treasures of Burgundy without over-indulging. The restaurants taking part in the scheme are all members of the Restaurateurs de France and/or Logis de Bourgogne groups, your guarantee of excellent food and service. Wines will be served in good quality tasting glasses. Details of their names and producers will be displayed on little cards available at your table. Use this information to contact any wine-growers whose wines you are particularly interested in and they will happily show you around their cellars - a perfect opportunity to see where the wines were grown, to learn how they are produced and to buy a few bottles to share with family and friends. Add to my road bookChablis, the French Chic![]() Chablis is a white wine that grows in a region spanning over 5,000 hectares. Its precious flavour and clear colour - almost like drinking liquid gold - make it internationally renowned. Present in 19 communes of Burgundy, Chablis is categorised into four "appellation d'origine contrôlée" ("AOC") labels: Petit Chablis, Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru and Chablis Grand Cru. Chablis has been created according to fine "goldsmith" criteria for over 9 centuries to enliven our meals - and it remains as modern as ever. Simply stated, it whets our appetite for life. More than a wine, Chablis represents the French art of living.
