August 2nd- 9th in Autun
August sees the return of this enchanting extravaganza to the town and skies of Autun. Augustodunum, “Le voyage de Murcie” is a son et lumière spectacle that is justly famous throughout France for its outstanding stagecraft and special effects. It is an epic tale set in Gallo-Roman times, featuring the character Chronos, the Eduen Celts who founded Bibracte, Julius Caesar, the Gallic wars, Vercingetorix, and the great and glorious history of Augustodunum (present day Autun).

August 7th-10th
Thousands of fans of Cajun and Zydeco music are set to descend on the town of Saulieu this year for Europe’s greatest festival of Louisiana music.
For three nights and three days they can dance to the furious rhythm of Louisiana music. The Saulieu festival is the biggest in Europe and is sure to be another great success, given the number of events arranged for each day.
There will be two outstanding Louisiana groups performing at this 15th festival :
- Beausoleil with Michael Doucet,
-Léon Chavis & the Zydeco Flames

August 2nd in La Charité-sur-Loire
This is your chance to read through the night and to have a friendly chat with authors who have come to sign copies of their books. The local bookshops stay open all night and serve regional produce, tea, cakes or a glass of local Côteaux Charitois Chardonnay. There are also Jazz musicians playing in the street – the night is yours !

August 21st to 24th
This festival features some of the most highly regarded vocal groups in Europe as well as some local ones, such as the famous Arsys Bourgogne choir. There is a series of concerts over 4 days, with afternoon performances in churches near Vézelay and evening performances in the magnificent basilica of Sainte Marie-Madeleine. Musicology lectures take place in the Jules Roy gardens.
