The climats of Burgundy
In the heart of the Burgundy wine region you can explore the climats, a regional term that refers to a plot of land whose rich soil and natural conditions are unique. Make a detour to a cellar or museum in the region and learn all about the history, the slopes, the soil composition, the aspect and the microclimate of each of these plots.
In the Côte-d’Or, at the heart of the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune , you can discover Grands crus such as Romanée-Conti or Meursault . Further north, in the Yonne, the famous Chablis is an appellation Grand cru distributed across seven climats. Visit the villages of Givry and Rully en Saône-et-Loire, where you can familiarise yourself with the Premiers crus of the Côte Chalonnaise.
The wines and the AOCs
The wines of Burgundy are rich and varied, and are divided into regional appellations, village appellations, Premiers crus and Grands crus. The Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) is your guarantee of the characteristics of the regional wines. If you go on an introductory course or a tasting course you can discover the secrets of the great names such as Corton, Montrachet, Chambertin , or more simply the AOC Pouilly-Fumé or Irancy.

Come and meet the people who love wine
Do you enjoy authenticity? Then come and meet the wine-growers of the region, who will open the doors of their domaine to you. You can chat to them while tasting wines produced from their own harvest.
If you would like to taste and buy your wine from a group of producers, the wine-growers’ cooperatives situated in the wine-growing region will open their doors to you.
The wine trader-producer buys his wines from the cask and then stores them. He generally has a wide collection of wine which he offers for sale with shrewd advice.
Retail cellars offer a unique point of sale for wines, whether these come from a wine-grower, a cooperative or a trader.
